Big Real Estate News but… What Does It Mean?

The National Association of Realtors (NAR) reached a settlement with an original lawsuit and a series of additional lawsuits (and may have staved off a Department of Justice anti-trust probe). In addition to a near half billion-dollar settlement, it also requires some changes to the way brokerages have cooperated in Multiple Listing Services and the practice of sellers paying the buyer agency commission in residential real estate transactions. There’s a lot of misrepresentation and misunderstanding circulating. Here’s a quick overview and some quick analysis of possible implications.
